Sustaining Hawke's Bay Trust is running Sustainable Living Courses in 2009 at Havelock North High School from Mon 16 Feb, 7pm start, 8 sessions and in Term2 at William Colenso College, Napier from Monday 4 May, also 7pm start, 8 sessions, $45.

A course to promote better health for you, the environment and your wallet! This course covers energy saving, alternatives to home chemicals, shopping, reducing waste, reducing water use, efficient travel & transport, and eco-renovations. Includes many detailed handouts and further links.

Introduction to Permaculture- Two courses starting Wednesday 6th May from 7-9pm for 8 weeks at William Colenso College, Napier and at Central Hawkes Bay College, Waipukurau. $60
Permaculture as defined by co-founders Bill Mollison and David Holmgren is 'The conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive eco systems which have the diversity, stability and resilience of natural eco systems. It is the harmonious integration of landscape and people providing their food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way'
Plant Propagation- Starting Saturday 9th May from 9-11am for 8 weeks at William Colenso College, Napier. $45 This course emphasises growing plants for food and strives to incorporate sustainable practices into garden design and implementation. Home propagation of plants is the cheapest method of producing food plants, living mulch and compost ingredients.

Covering the reduction and recycling of food and green waste through techniques of Composting, Worm farming, Bokashi, also demonstrating the set up of a small, affordable garden.
